Coin Competition Rules

Entry Conditions

  • All entries are to be submitted online.
  • Entry to the Coin Competition is open to MDC Official Member Mints and Observer Mints.
  • Each MDC Official Member Mint and Observer Mint can enter one coin per category.
  • There are three categories in the Coin Competition;
    • Category 1 – Commemorative coin - gold
    • Category 2 – Commemorative coin – other
    • Category 3 – Circulating coin
  • Two separate class winners from each category will be chosen;
    • Class A – Most beautiful coin
    • Class B – Most technologically advanced coin
  • Each MDC Official Member Mint and Observer Mint must supply two of the submitted coin to allow for the display of both the obverse and reverse.
  • Coins must be dated 2008, 2009 or up to 30 June 2010.
  • The coins will be displayed in secure cabinets for viewing during the conference.
  • Each entry must arrive and be accompanied by the attached registration form no later than Friday 25 June 2010, details below.
  • MDC Official Mint and Observer Mints may donate one coin to be displayed in Royal Australian Mint Museum.
  • All coins will be returned to their respective mints via registered mail at the conclusion of the conference, unless otherwise agreed.

Voting

  • Only MDC Official Member Mints are entitled to one vote per category, that is, one vote per class in each category.
  • Voting will take place by secret ballot.
  • Voting will close by close of business 12pm on Tuesday 28 September 2010.
  • In the event of a draw, the deciding vote will be made by the President of the MDC.
  • Winners will be announced on Tuesday 28 September 2010 during the evening conference Gala Dinner at Parliament House.

Other

  • This competition bears no relationship with the Coin of the Year Award conducted by Krause Publications. Or any other coin awards.
