Host's Message

Dear Colleagues,

As the newly appointed CEO of the Royal Australian Mint, I am looking forward to my first international engagement with you all, especially as it will be as host of MDC and held here at the Royal Australian Mint in my home country.

I am honoured to have been appointed to Chief Executive Officer at such an important time for the Royal Australian Mint. It is with great pleasure that the Royal Australian Mint hosts the MDC twice in ten years and we pride ourselves on being able to deliver an outstanding XXVI Mint Directors Conference.

MDC 2010 will take place from 26 September - 3 October 2010. The conference is likely to attract over 350 international guests including representatives from world mints, minting manufacturers and monetary related industries from all around the world.

MDC 2010 will provide the opportunity for all countries participating in the conference to exchange information on monetary matters and related legal, economic, technical, administrative and numismatic issues.

Whilst in Canberra, you will discover many remarkable things about our nation’s capital and Australia by visiting some of our national institutions. Sydney, and Cairns (for those of you who will be attending the post conference), will also be showcased which will give you a chance to experience some of Australia’s rich culture, history and way of life.

Also to be showcased is the newly renovated Royal Australian Mint which has just been through a three year refurbishment. As such, it is fitting that the theme of MDC 2010 is ‘imagination inspiring innovation’ promoting the influence that imagination can have on innovation. As the new CEO it gives me great pleasure to be able to invite you all to visit the new Royal Australian Mint on the last day of the conference here in Canberra.
