Host City

Canberra is the capital of Australia and it is believed that this name originates from the Aboriginal word for ‘meeting place’. Canberra is home to the Parliament of Australia, many national cultural institutions and host city to a number of national and international events. The location of Canberra was democratically chosen by the people of Australia and is the only ‘planned’ city of Australia. As such, Canberra has been able to carefully design its development of world-class facilities and national attractions to live in harmony with the bush land environment. This is considered by many to be Canberra’s greatest charm.
